Philips 55POS9002 OLED TV review

Philips returns to OLED with stunning results

Ambilight works a treat ; Excellent all-round picture quality ; Good value ; Attractive design

Android TV can annoy ; Slightly weak sound ; Complicated to use ; More dynamic images elsewhere

The way Philips’ new P5 picture processing partners with OLED screen technology in the 55POS9002 is a revelation, leading to some of the most natural and immersive pictures around. Add Philips’ lovely Ambilight technology to the mix, and at £2,000 the...

Philips 55POS9002 review

Ambilight meets OLED, but this Philips is so much more than a one-trick pony

Truly glorious HDR ; Ambilight is as awesome as ever ; Sounds pretty good ; Standard dynamic range (SDR) content is nicely balanced

A poor selection of apps ; Can be beaten for subtlety and motion processing

The Ambilight is awesome, but even if you took it away this would be one of the finest tellies that money can buy

Philips 55POS9002 review

Adding Ambilight to OLED is brilliant, but this Philips has much more to offer.

Stunning HDR performance ; Ambilight is as lovely as ever ; Decent sound ; Nicely balanced delivery of non-4K content

Glaring app omissions ; Some rivals offer greater nuance ; Motion processing isn’t quite perfect

A real return to form for Philips and one of the finest TVs currently available, particularly for HDR

Philips 55POS9002 review: Yet another OLED marvel from Philips

Philips improves on its already brilliant first-generation OLED TV to create an Ambilight-equipped 4K HDR stunner

True blacks, vibrant colours and wide viewing angles ; Impressive motion handling and video processing ; Ambilight reduces eye fatigue if set correctly

Very bright detail in HDR movies can be missing ; Android TV could be easier to use ; No Dolby Vision or HDR10+ dynamic metadata support

The Philips 55POS9002 is a stunning TV. For this level of performance, the asking price is eminently reasonable, and with great motion handling, video processing and Ambilight/ Philips Hue integration, it definitely deserves a place on your wish list.

Philips 55POS9002

Philips 55POS9002 review: Philips' second OLED offers up irresistible subtlety, detail and naturalism. It's not the most dynamic OLED, however.

Excellent value ; Impressively detailed, natural pictures ; Attractive, space-saving design

Not the brightest OLED around ; Black levels not as deep as some OLEDs ; Android TV can frustrate

For a substantial corner of the serious AV world, the 55POS9002’s focus on subtlety, detail and naturalism will prove hard to resist – especially when they clock it’s price.

Superb TV, all round excellence

I've always had Philips' TVs and I was keen to acquire this model when I saw it had become available. I am delighted with it and would recommend it strongly.

Love my new Ambilight

Bought this as a replacement for my old Philips Ambilight. Got some wonderful guys to install it and set it up properly plus calibrated the screen picture for 4K with my HD matrix and media server. It looks awesome in the custom media wall. Easy to use...

Great picture. missing TV apps

Great picture quality but the fact that ITV Hub, All 4 and My5 are not available is disappointing. This is a TV for UK market but is missing the relevant UK TV apps, not so smart after all.

Philips create another leap forward in picture quality and design

As there didn't seem to be any major improvements in pure picture quality, yes I have looked and, ignoring 3D that didn't impress me, I've only needed to upgrade a few times since the introduction of LCD. So I've had the following Philips TVs: 2006 -...
