Sony Xperia XZ Premium review: Premium yes, but competition is ahead

Sony Xperia XZ Premium is a top notch phone, there's no doubt. The camera ticks the right boxes, the overall UI and performance is not bad, though it could be smoother. As far as premium goes, this phone covers it all, offering the complete package.

There is no doubt that the Sony Xperia XZ Premium is a top notch. The camera ticks the right boxes, the overall UI and performance is not bad, though it could be smoother. However, this still has an outdated design and a display, which despite the 4K...

Sony Xperia XZ Premium Review

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is the best smartphone Sony has to offer, but it's still substantially behind competing devices like the Samsung Galaxy S8.

Unique looks ; Good display ; Fast

Sub-par battery life ; 4K display and 960fps slo-mo are gimmicks only

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is the best smartphone that Sony has to offer, but it's still behind competing devices. As far as flagships go, you could consider the Xperia XZ Premium, but the Galaxy S8 is faster and has better battery life.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium review

A flagship that lives up to its nomenclature of Premium

Build and design look classy ; Camera is highly capable, in the right hands ; 4K video recording and playback is sensational

Bezels feel too thick on top and bottom ; Misses out on QuickCharge 4.0

Finally, a cool-running Sony flagship that delivers on all its promises, including the camera and performance benchmarks

Sony Xperia XZ Premium

Sony Xperia XZ Premium review: Can super slow-motion footage make the Xperia XZ Premium stand out from other flagships?

Flagship performance ; High resolution display ; Decent speakers

Dated design ; Uncomfortable to hold ; Slow-motion feature video is limited

Sony’s Xperia XZ Premium is unworthy of its name

No matter how shiny you polish it up, this phone doesn't live up to its price and epithet

Bright, pixel-dense display ; Snappy performance ; Good battery life

Underwhelming camera ; Unergonomic design ; Display bezels are huge by 2017 standards

With its fancy mirror finish, eyebrow-raising price, and proud Sony pedigree, the Xperia XZ Premium flatters to deceive. On paper, it’s a behemoth, but in practice, it’s too much like the rest of the mainstream Android flagship pack. That’s been Sony’s...

Sony Xperia XZ Premium (2017) review

Sony's XZ Premium flagship has just about everything you could ask for from a top-end phone. A 4K display, insanely powerful processor and a unique super-slow motion camera all make this handset great.

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium's awesome screen, supercharged processor and unique slow-motion video mode rightly earn this phone its premium name.

This is the same design premium Sony phones have used for years and it's starting to feel old and boring. The limited camera interface makes the phone feel crude. The fingerprint reader is turned off in the US.

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is a powerhouse of a phone, but it's looking tired against today's rivals, making it tough to justify the cost.
