Fitbit Alta HR review: The slimmest one, also smarter than before

Fitbit Alta HR is the new smart band from the company, and here's our review for this fitness tracker

Fitbit Alta HR hands-on review

It's got a new heart-rate sensor, but is the Alta still a tracker's delight?

Fitbit Alta HR review

The Fitbit Alta's had a hearty upgrade

Slim, comfortable design ; On-point steps counting ; Accurate heart rate reader

Screen slightly unresponsive ; Not the most dynamic sports tracker ; Display difficult to read in bright light

With the Alta HR, Fitbit has taken what was already a solid activity tracker, and made it better. It’s not flash, it’s not elaborate, but it is slick and with its newly added heart rate tracking skills it's a more well-rounded fitness companion for...

Apple iPhone X review

I came home late from my first day of testing the iPhone X. My wife sent me audio clips over iMessage from the kids after I sent them pictures of myself, now beardless. "O-M-G. I can't even recognize Daddy!"

A great blend of handheld comfort and a big, gorgeous OLED screen. Rear telephoto camera outshoots the 8 Plus in low light, and the front camera snaps impressive portrait selfies. Face ID generally works fine.

New interface and no home button mean major adjustments, and key features such as the Control Center are harder to reach and use. It’ll take time for most apps to be optimized for notched screen. The phone is hella expensive, and the all-glass design...

iPhone X is an overdue and winning evolution of the iPhone, but you’ll need to leave your comfort zone to make a jump into the face-recognizing future.

Fitbit Alta HR

Fitbit Alta HR review: Fitbit's updated Alta isn't just about heart rate monitoring, it wants to help you sleep better

Attractive and sleek design ; Sleep Stages information is useful ; Comfortable ; Long battery life

Basic exercise tracking ; No Connected GPS ; Slightly unresponsive display

One positive to come from the reduced refresh rate of the heart rate monitor is that the Fitbit Alta HR can last close to seven days on a single charge. The Charge 2, on the other hand, tends to last closer to five days.

Fitbit Alta HR review: a much better activity tracker than I expected

Not exactly new, but just new enough

Fitbit’s most stylish tracker ; Added heart rate sensors ; Week-long battery life ; Advanced sleep tracking software

No control over tracking exercises ; No GPS for accurate distances ; Tap-sensitive display is annoying

Fitbit Alta HR fitness tracker review

A sleek look, heart-rate features, and low price make the Alta HR perfect for casual athletes.

Slim, sleek, and unobtrusive design ; Precise heart-rate tracking ; Impressive activity recognition ; Useful sleep-tracking data

Dim, finicky screen ; Not waterproof ; No manual fitness profiles or relaxation features

The Fitbit Alta HR is an impressive fitness tracker at its price point. It may lack a few bells and whistles found on its pricier counterparts, but the Alta HR’s compactness, the accuracy of its heart-rate tracker, the smart activity recognition, and...

Fitbit Alta HR review

It's got a new heart-rate sensor, but is the Alta HR still a tracker's delight?

Exercise auto-tracking is excellent ; Heart-rate tracking adds depth to stats ; Sleep tracking has promise ; Small and discrete

Not water-resistant ; Screen can be unresponsive ; Lacks an altimeter and guided breathing

A fine all-rounder with excellent autopilot tracking, but the Alta HR falls just short of greatness

Fitbit Alta HR

With the Alta HR, Fitbit updates its most stylish tracker with continuous heart rate monitoring, better battery life, and smarter sleep tracking. Fashion-conscious self-quantifiers: This may be the device you've been waiting for.

Long battery life. More in-depth sleep tracking and insights over its predecessor. Accurate heart rate and step count readings. Slim and comfortable to wear 24/7 with plenty of band options.

Screen is occasionally unresponsive. Buckle feels a bit flimsy. No altimeter. Lacks GPS.

Ultimately, the one to pick comes down to one question: Would you rather spend your money on a better design and longer battery life, or more functionality and features? While the Alta HR can keep pace with the Charge 2 on most levels, it makes slight...

Fitbit Alta HR review

Guess what: Fitbit's newest tracker is its best one yet. There are a lot of Fitbits to choose from, but after wearing all of them, the Fitbit Alta HR ( $149.95 at Dell Home ) wins our vote. It has almost all of the same features as the Charge 2 (...

The Alta HR has a slim and stylish design with 7-day battery life, and all-day fitness and heart rate tracking.

It isn't water-resistant, and notifications can be difficult to read. You can't manually start workouts. Automatic exercise tracking and no buttons means no on-band controls.

Long battery life and stylish design combined with improving app software make the Alta HR the best all-around fitness tracker for most people.
